Attitudes about technology
I think technology is a great way to communicate with others. However, beyond Facebook, Myspace and text messaging I do not have a lot of experience with technology. I think using technology is important in this day and age because it is an easy way to communicate and draw people together within the busy social envioronment.
I currently feel that technology should be used in the K-12 environment because of all the benefits of communication that technology holds. The internet can connect schools, classrooms, teachers and students to anyone in the world and anytime. I feel that the internet is a great learning tool and that students should be taught how to research and navigate around the internet quickly and efficiently. Students should learn how to blog and post pieces of work on the internet if they wish. I think that by using Facebook and Myspace, students are learning how to interact with others, and communicate at any given time. These types of programs make it easy to remember certain details about people (ex birthdays) and make it easy to communicate. Technology brings people together, if used in a responsible mannor. As a potential teacher, we need to dicuss the benefits of technology in the classroom, as well as the negative aspects that could occcur. We need to make sure students know how to properly use the internet and technology and how to protect themselves.
From this class I hope to learn how to navigate around the internet and learn how to manipulate certain programs such as this Blog. I’ve never had a blog before and look forward for this experience to help me open my mind to using technology. Unfortunatly I do not have a lot of experience with technology and want to accomplish how to blog and manage these tools quickly and efficiently.
